Massive response to health fairs in Himachal Pradesh

Hamirpur (HP), April 22 (UNI) There was overwhelming response to the health fairs (melas) being organized in the health blocks across Himachal Pradesh and there was much enthusiasm among the people regarding this, officials informed on Friday. These fairs held across the state end on Friday. Specialist and other doctors from various medical colleges rendered their services at the block level during these health fairs. Giving this information, a Health Department spokesperson said that on Friday multi specialist medical camps were organized in 17 health blocks in the state, where residents of local blocks are participating in these fairs and availing remedial and preventive services at their doorsteps. He said that the camps for diseases affecting the eye, skin, heart, gynecology, pediatrics, nose-ear-throat diseases, dentists, TB, etc. were organized. Free medicines were distributed by organizing blood donation camps and informative health exhibition in addition to the facility of disease check-up, general blood test, vaccination facility, diabetes and blood pressure check-up through Him care cards. The spokesperson said that along with these services, medical consultation was also provided through telemedicine. Explaining the importance of organ donation to the general public present on this occasion, he said that majority people were motivated for it. Due to the presence of distinguished dignitaries in the various camps, there were huge crowds at these fairs. The Health Department appealed to the people of the state to take advantage of free specialist medical services at their doorsteps in the camps to be organized in the coming days. UNI/CSS ACL1039
